What can you tell me about this 1910’s “Modern” European Painting?

I’m not trying to promote it, just want to have some more educated views and comments on this oil painting.

Well this is an odd piece! I have never seen the subject matter before. It really has no claim to be in a “modern” style or a surrealist style unless you know more about this artist’s motivation, background, education or influences.

It’s interesting though and signed, so you could easily take the photo and signature to an art library for a little help. There are volumes of signatures that work like an art dictionary to tell you more about the artist. Hopefully he/she would be included in one of those. Make sure you search variables for such a stylised signature like D. Waide, Deel Waide or other combos.

The subject of boar hunting is represented in art, but they aren’t animals that travel in herds like this. It could be a surreal topic in that way, but without knowing more it’s just not possible to say.
