Debbie Sawin
Debbie Sawin was born and raised in Northern California. She attended Humboldt State University and CSU-Hayward and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Her art education began at Diablo Valley College in 1998 after taking time to raise 4 sons. She has studied art and watercolor with Michele Krup at DVC and attended workshops with Susan Bourdet, Michael Atkinson, Arleta Pech, Jane Hofstetter, Lian Zhen and Sueellen Ross. She has studied photography with T. Pajunen and George Lepp. Her work is on exhibit at Gallery Concord. She has exhibited her work in solo shows at Diablo Valley College Library, Pleasant Hill City Hall, Contra Costa County Board of Education, and Contra Costa Crisis Center. Her work has also been displayed at Wells Fargo Bank in Concord, Contra Costa Administration Bldg in Martinez, Contra Costa Child Care Council in Concord, Oakland Animal Services, Wente Vineyards Winery in Livermore, John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Port Costa Art Show, Mt. Diablo Valley Medical Center in Concord, and Blackhawk Gallery.

By way of a visual exploration of the four natural elements (Air, Fire, Water and Earth) through which we experience our most unique "home", I hope to lead the viewer to an appreciation of the fragile "balance" governing our
very existence. Works in Pastel, augmented by insightful, inspired literary and rhythmic observations, should create a thought-provoking exhibit. THE ARTIST: Jean Bidwell, an East Bay artist, has been in pursuit of bringing the natural world to paper for some 25 years. She exhibits her work (both pastel and watercolor) via a variety of venues throughout the State, as well as with the notable creative collaborative, Artists 7.
